Demtel was originally formed by David Hammer and Warwick Doughty during the mid 80’s.

It grew fast to become one of the worlds largest direct to the public companies till it was sold to other investors who subsequently sent the company broke and sold out to TVSN.

The originators built the company to be the first world wide to screen 2 minute ads on TV then the first with 3 minute ads with a division known as Infobreak.

Demtel sold well over a 1 million items a year and innovated the industry with TV presenters like Tim Shaw - The name coming from DEMONSTRATION Television DEMTEL.

Australia’s largest ever record sale is still the Classics Collection with over 1,000,000 albums sold Nationwide. One of its revered innovators of collections was a young Glenn A Baker.

In its hey day Demtel was Australia’s largest customer of Australia Post to New Zealand customers.

Demtel's ads spanned the globe appearing in over 20 countries including the first Direct Response ads in the UK (With Greater Universal stores), South Africa (on M NET) and the USA.

It pioneered Health Hoods, Music, Jewellery and Kitchen items.
